‘Make your own’

That’s what they tell us when we ask why we’re so seldom on screen. “Make your own movies,” they say. So that’s what we decided to do. T40 Films was conceived in 2025 to put transgender voices on both sides of the camera. We’re telling our own stories, our own way.

Our First Project

For our first film project, T40 Films is assembling an entirely transgender cast and crew for the Fall 2026 48 Hour Film Project – Pittsburgh. In just 48 hours, we’ll write, shoot, and edit a short film to bring our voices to this year’s competition.

Equipment

We’re not professional filmmakers, so we don’t have a closet full of gear. We’ll need a full kit including cameras, lighting, audio, and grip equipment. We welcome loans, discounted rentals, or donations.

We won’t know exactly what we need until the competition begins and we get our assignment, but we’re lining up options now. We’re seeking a variety of practical props so we’re ready to move fast once the clock starts.

Costuming will depend on the story and characters we land on, but we’re building out a range of options ahead of time. We’re seeking clothing and accessories across a variety of styles and sizes so we can dress any character our script calls for.

Who are we?

T40 Films was co-founded by Christina and Milo to bring together an all trans cast and crew and tell a great story — starting with Pittsburgh’s 48 Hour Film Project. Here’s a little more about the two of them.

Christina

Christina, a trans woman, co-founded T40 Films to see more of her community on the screen. As a long-time freelance graphic designer and web developer, she is accustomed to finding creative ways to get things accomplished. Christina is active in Pittsburgh’s LGBTQIA+ community and a vocal advocate for trans rights. When she’s not busy with the film or work projects, she’s cooking, reading, parenting, or doing a deep dive into something new.

Milo

Milo, trans masc/bigender(?), co-founded T40 Films to see more of his community on the screen. He got his first taste of the 48 Hour Film Project last year, acting in and helping produce a team’s entry — an experience that left him wanting more trans people on both sides of the camera. That itch turned into T40. When he’s not working on the film, [hobbies/interests here].
